"Letter from the Smithsonian This article has been widely posted on the Internet, and is often claimed to be a genuine letter from the Smithsonian's archives. It isn't . The Smithsonian has no paleoanthropology division, and no curator named Harvey Rowe. Harvey Rowe does exist, however: he is the author of this letter!
