Wicca was there even before the Roman Catholic religion. It is said that the Roman Catholic's invented, their religion based on not understanding the meaning of witchcraft. Everything that is not understood is feared, therefore, people who didn't understand witchcraft, made it seem pessimistic and evil. Though witchcraft is not suppose to be seen as something which brings forth evil, it is often misinterpreted for that. Witchcraft is suppose to be used for the doing of good not that of evil. There are also certain terms that Wiccans must follow. This is called the "Wiccan Rede", which consists of certain rules you must obey. If however you disrespect these rules, you shall be condemned to a life of non-participating magick( Meaning that any chants or spells that are cast will no longer function). "If ye harm none no harm shall be done", is one of the phrases most often recited because this is what most Wiccans believe in. Another phrase often used is the term "Three Fold", which means that whenever you cast good or bad spells, whatever energy you give out, you will receive those energies three times their strength. An example of this would be , if you wanted to cast a spell involving negative energies (bad spell), the energies will be sent back to you three times as harsh as the spell itself. If however, you sent positive energies( good spell), it will come back to you three times as good. One of the three restrictions is, not to cast spells of healing or anything of any other matter on a person without their consent. If you choose to do this, you are no longer preforming white magick, but gray magick. This is seen as a magick not practised by participating Wiccans. Though it may seem as though there are a lot of restrictions, you are given the freedom to decide what you will follow and what doesn't suit what you stand for!
