The 2004 Mitten Program participants were recognized
on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at the Golden Age Center. 613 items were donated to the Mitten Program and 261 items were donated to the Preemie Program at Woman's and Children's Hospital. St. Luke's Mission Charter School, the Neighbors Foundation of Grand Island and the Salvation Army received the mittens. Lil Carpenter was given special recognition as she made 221 items for the Mitten Program and 195 items for the Preemie Program.
Golden Agers Win In Old Membership Card Contest - 2005

Members of the Golden Age Center of Grand Island were asked to bring in their oldest membership cards on Monday, January 10, 2005. The earliest year possible was 1959-60, as the Golden Age Club was formed on the Island in 1959. Lillian Carpenter had the oldest legible card dated 1972. Joan Raab had an illegible card that appeared very old and also a card dated 1976. The ladies were awarded free tickets to an upcoming Sunday Brunch.
