" July 06, 2009 INDEPENDENCE & ACCEPTANCE HOLIDAYS LTD, Tasha and I went to LTD's brother's house for July 4th. He went out of state to buy fireworks, as they're illegal here, and he put on a great show. The family was there, as well as some friends. I was a little nervous about going because I'm always afraid of strangers' reactions to Tasha. She had to have her hair cut really short a few months ago because of damage from dying it so much, so to me she looked a little boyish. It's weird, though. When we go into restaurants they always say, "Can I get you ladies something to drink?" When we were getting her state ID at the DMV, they said "she" and "her" even though they had her birth certificate that clearly stated "male." Still, I'm never sure that people are just going to accept her, especially at a party where people are drinking. But they were all wonderful. LTD's family accepts her emphatically, even her younger brother who is a BIG country boy. They had a cookout with watermelon and shot fireworks off the end of the pier over __________ Lake. We stayed late and had the best time. LTD's father was noticeably absent, so it was a little bittersweet. Now, onto an entirely different subject. Here is the pic of my tattoo. I think my foot looks entirely too fat, but Tasha says it does not. I cannot adequately describe the pain I experienced. It felt a little like the tattoo artist was cutting off my foot with a rusty razor blade. I was somewhat surprised to see it still attached when it was all over. Of course, the pain subsided immediately and I started wondering where I was going to get my next tattoo. I guess it's a lot like childbirth...pain you forget. Isn't it beautiful?
