SOME OF THE PEOPLE WHO WERE GREATLY MOVED BY THE WORDS AND DEEDS OF CHRIST, WHO HAILED HIM AS THE LONG PROMISED MESSIAH WHEN HE RODE INTO JERUSALEM ON A DONKEY, GATHERED JUST A FEW DAYS LATER TO WATCH HIS TRIAL BY THE LEADERS WHO HAD ALREADY CONDEMNED HIM BEFORE IT EVEN STARTED.
THEY SAID TO PILATE, "WE FOUND THIS FELLOW PERVERTING THE NATION, AND FORBIDDING TO PAY TAXES TO CAESAR, SAYING THAT HE IS CHRIST THE KING."
THAT WAS A DELIBERATE LIE, FOR JESUS NEVER SAID TO ANYONE THAT THEY SHOULD NOT PAY TAXES TO CAESAR, HE SAID, "RENDER UNTO CAESAR THE THINGS THAT ARE CAESAR'S, AND TO GOD THE THINGS THAT ARE GOD'S!" Matthew 22:21 BUT, THOUGH THEY WOULD NOT ACCEPT THE TRUTH, THEY WERE RIGHT WHEN THEY SAID, "HE CLAIMS TO BE THE CHRIST, THE KING." AH, BUT NOT JUST A KING, BUT THE KING OF kings and LORD OF lords.
SENT TO STAND BEFORE KING HEROD, "THE CHIEF PRIESTS AND SCRIBES STOOD AND VEHEMENTLY ACCUSED HIM. THEN HEROD WITH HIS MEN OF WAR TREATED HIM WITH CONTEMPT AND MOCKED HIM, ARRAYED HIM IN A GORGEOUS ROBE AND SENT HIM BACK TO PILATE." Luke 23:7-12
