ALBUM REVIEW - PLASTIC TOYS, ‘FOR TONIGHT ONLY’(Hill Valley Records) June 24th, 2008 by Editor Easily one of the British underground’s most exciting recent offerings Southampton upstarts Plastic Toys’ inaugural album will be a hotly anticipated release in some quarters… Described by the band as running like the perfect live set – hence the title – ‘For Tonight Only’ showcases alongside some glammed-up industrial setlist staples what the band haven’t been able to incorporate into the live set. That it turns out ranges from the cabaret pianos of ‘Curtain Up’, through the gritty NiN grind of ‘Dirty’, and even to some sweeping ‘Hey Jude’-esque chants in the fade-out to closer ‘Goodbye’. If there’s any justice album number two will be eagerly awaited the world over. The whole set was a blitzkreig of the senses, and the band’s reputation as one of the best live bands around is well deserved - as is their reputation of being rather insane on stage. Down the front was something of a terrifying experience, where you didn’t quite know what was coming next - with singer Greg and both guitarists constantly leaping up onto"
